All-District Choir auditions for 2010 will be held at Odessa High School on Saturday, September 11th. This opportunity is open to all interested 11th and 12th grade choir students. The cost for entry is $8.00 and the entry fee is due to Mr. Harvey by September 6th.
Auditions consist of singing an art song (does not need to be memorized) and doing a sight reading test. Information, practice recordings, and examples of the sight reading test can be found at the link below.
All-District Choir Performance and All-State Choir Auditions will be held at Smith-Cotton High School in Sedalia, MO on Saturday, October 9th. The 11th and 12th Grade Clinician is Dr. Rick Weymuth Professor Emeritus-Northwest Missouri State University. There is also a Women's 11th and 12th grade honor choir which will be under the direction of Ms. Beth File from the Lee's Summit School District.
On October 9th there is also an opportunity for 9th and 10th graders to participate in an honor choir. It is held in the same location as All-District Choir. The Clinician is Mr. Chris Droegemueller Vocal Music Director at Oak Grove High School in the North Kansas City School District.
Members of each honor choir will be posted on the evening of Saturday, Sept. 11th!
On Saturday, September 12th fifteen students from Odessa High School auditioned for the 2009 West Central All-District Choir. Out of those fifteen students we had ten that qualified for participation in choirs on that day. Jarrod Best, Zach DeFoe, Rachel Eggert, Jared Green, Evan Johnson, Jacob Kintz, Rebecca Westmoreland made the 2009 11th and 12th Grade All-District Choir and will be performing in this choir on Saturday, October 10th in Sedalia. These students will also be able to audition for the 2009-2010 Missouri All-State Choir that same day.
Mary Abare, Sarah Evatt, Stephanie Rambo made the 2009 All-District Women's Honor Choir which will also perform on October 10th. The students will all be working with special guest conductors with a final performance on the evening of the 10th starting at 5:30 at Sedalia Smith-Cotton Junior High School (Old Smith-Cotton High). All public is invited to attend this free performance and support the talented youth from our community.
The Audition Schedule for Satruday, Sept. 12th is posted. Auditions are at Warrensburg High School and we will be leaving at 1:00 PM to ensure that we are there in plenty of time. As long as everything is on schedule we should return to Odessa around 4:15pm.

All-District Choir is open to any Junior or Senior who would like to audition.
Audition process includes: -Singing a Solo Piece (such as a contest piece)
-Identifying Key Signatures
-Sight Reading a melody line and harmony line.
All interested students should let Mr. Harvey know immediately as registration is due Sept. 1st!
There is also an opportunity for 9th and 10th graders to participate in the 9-10 All-District Honor Choir. No audition is required. Each school may bring two members of each voice part. The registration deadline is Sept. 5th.
Below is the All-State Choir Audition piece. "My Spirit Sang All Day" is 2009's audition piece. "Exultate Justi" will be used for the 2010 audition piece. Any student that makes All-District Choir will be auditioning for All-State Choir. The audition consists of sing this one song.
The tracks below are marked with a voice part. The track labeled "soprano" is what sopranos will hear and sing along with in their audition room, on that track every part can be heard except for the soprano part.
Anyone who makes the All-District 11-12 Choir will try out for All-State Choir. The audition consists of simply singing your part to the selected audition song.
